For sellers, especially those new to the market, a common question arises: how do you choose the right style of cast iron skillet? With over 20 years of experience as a producer and exporter in the cast iron cookware industry, we’d like to guide you through selecting the best-selling cast iron skillets.
There are various types of cast iron skillets available. When categorized by surface treatment, they can be classified as “pre-seasoned” or “enameled.” When classified by depth, you can find shallow and deep skillets. However, today we will focus on categorization by style.
In general, cast iron skillets can be divided into three main types:
A. Skillets Without Dual Handles
These skillets are typically under 25 cm in size. Their lightweight design makes dual handles unnecessary, allowing for greater flexibility. A classic set in this category would include 6”, 8”, and 10” cast iron skillets. This variety ensures that you can meet diverse cooking needs across different scenarios.

B. Skillets With Dual Handles
As the name suggests, dual handles are found on larger skillets, making them easier to lift and handle during cooking. Larger frying pans are generally more versatile than smaller ones. If you’re looking for a skillet to keep for a lifetime, consider a 10-inch or 12-inch cast iron skillet.
C. Skillets With Wooden Handles
Typically, when using a regular cast iron skillet, a towel or oven mitt is necessary for heat protection. Skillets with wooden handles eliminate this hassle, allowing some cooks to operate without additional insulation. Based on our experience, skillets with wooden handles tend to be more popular in European markets.
Cast iron skillets are among the most durable options in the cast iron cookware category. They are the perfect tool for searing, sautéing, baking, broiling, braising, frying, or grilling. If you're a new seller or considering entering the market, starting with cast iron skillets is a wise choice. For established sellers who have not yet added cast iron skillets to their offerings, consider expanding your product line to include this essential item.
In addition to the three types discussed, we also offer other styles, such as square cast iron skillets, deep cast iron skillets, and enameled cast iron skillets. Please feel free to contact us if you’re interested in any of these items or have any questions. We are eager to assist you with any inquiries you may have.
